Change history. Political history and political elite in contemporary Uruguay
Keywords:
Uruguay, Political historyAbstract
The last Uruguayan election of the 20th century, was carried out in a context of political discontent and with new electoral rules which seems to push party actors to new different relationships with its own and others' history. The author contends that, if we are living in a period of transition, the accumulated capital of the uruguayan parties should give samples of its "functionality". It could be either by transformations that ensure the continuity of certain civic traditions, or by a radical "negative" reformulation of the parties' relationship with the past by establishing more resolutely founding postulates.
