This article focuses on a key problem of contemporary democracies, which is the dichotomy of parliamentarism-presidentialism. The author presents definitions of these regimes of government, distinguishes between different forms of each of them and draws two main conclusions: I) parliamentarism can fail us as easily and as presidentialism; II) semi-presidentialism can improve presidentialism and semi-parliamentary systems are better than merely parliamentary
