The works that Albert Hirschman has directed to the economic and political development of Latin America, have had an enormous impact on the scholars and often on the social and political leaders) of the region, Hirschmann's influence in Latin America, however, goes far beyond those writings: his more general publications of theoretical generals, including those that were written with the developed world more in mind, have been extremely useful to many Latin Americanists of various disciplines.
